2011-2015 IRS Migration Flows

This map shows cumulative migration flows between 2011 and 2015 at the county level based on IRS tax forms and number of exemptions. Green counties indicate a positive net migration (more people moving in than those moving out) while red counties indicate a negative net migration (more people moving out than moving in). Lighter colors indicate a growth/decline of up to 500 people while darker colors indicate a growth/decline of 500 or more. Note that income is based on gross adjusted income reported divided by number of exemptions and averaged throughout the 4 years (they are not adjusted for inflation). Also, the non-migrants is an average during the same time period. Click on a county to display more information.
