Let’s Rethink February Florals

We often think of roses as the flower for February. We send them to our special “someone” for Valentine's Day and for other special occasions too. But, let's think of other great flowers to use during this winter month! NOTE: Participants may create a “Make Along” design with Lynette. A materials list with items to be gathered will be available here soon or at the county extension office.

In the Bleak Midwinter

Cold temperatures keep us indoors. Here's a chance to learn about plant materials and designs that will warm your interior spaces and your disposition! NOTE: Participants may create a “Make Along” design with Lynette. A materials list is available below or you may go to the county extension office for one.

Transitions: Fall to Holidays, Fresh to Preserved

There is a definite nip in the air and we are looking forward to the holiday season. Join Lynette as she shares ideas to “Fall into the Holidays”. We will do a number of permanent botanicals. Participants will need to gather and press their flowers prior to the program for the Make Along portion. NOTE: Participants may create a “Make Along” design with Lynette. Back To School

We will go “Back to School” as we review of the basic use and care of floral tools and the importance of floral foods and proper conditioning of plant materials. In our floral design work, we will be using plenty of summer blossoms along with vegetables and herbs.

A Change of Season

Autumn is just around the corner, and along with it comes many opportunities for creating seasonal floral decor for our homes. In this Quick Bites program, we will look at door and centerpieces both fresh and permanent. NOTE: Participants may create a “Make Along” design with Lynette. The materials list is below in the materials.pdf.

Summer Entertaining

This is an "I Spy and Design" project. Spend time with Lynette in June and July to develop your "I Spy and Design" abilities. Mississippi's flower gardens, yards, roadsides, woodlands, and fields are filled with some of the world's most prized floriculture crops. We will identify, condition, and design with a number of those materials.

A Walk Through Nature

Change it to this: Lynette's presentation is live from Rankin County with area participants in attendance. She will incorporate locally grown and gathered plant materials into her designs as well as simple vintage containers to showcase the natural designs.
